Quick Answer: Le Chatelier Moulds are spring-tensioned split-cylinder moulds used to determine the expansion (soundness) of cement. Each mould measures 30 mm internal diameter and 30 mm high, with two indicator stems set 165 mm apart from the centre line of the cylinder and an O ring; two or three moulds plus a water bath are required to perform the test. They are supplied as a single unit, a pack of 6 units, or as a Le Chatelier Soundness Kit complete with moulds and glass plates, and conform to EN 196-3, 450-1, 459-2 and EN ISO 9597 standards.
The mould consists of a spring-tensioned split cylinder measuring 30 mm internal diameter and 30 mm high, with two indicator stems set 165 mm apart from the centre line of the cylinder, and an O ring. It is used for determining the expansion of cement, and two or three moulds are required for each test. To perform the test, a water bath is also required (see accessories).
