What Is the Slump Test Apparatus Used For?
The slump test is a widely used site and laboratory check on fresh concrete: a cone filled with concrete is lifted away, and the drop in height of the concrete, the slump, shows how stiff or fluid the mix is. The cone is clamped to the base plate by its foot pieces and filled in layers, each one rodded with the steel rod; the top is struck off, the clamps are released and the cone is lifted straight up. The slump is then measured with the graduated rod, and a change from one batch to the next points to a change in water content.
