What Is the Digital TDS Meter Used For?
Total dissolved solids is the amount of salts, minerals and other substances dissolved in water. It is a basic check on drinking water, boiler and cooling water, effluent and irrigation water, as high TDS affects taste, scaling and suitability for crops. Because dissolved salts carry an electric current, the meter measures through the platinum dip cell immersed in the sample and shows the TDS value directly on its LED display. The operator picks whichever of the 5 ranges suits the sample, from nearly pure water to brackish samples, keeping the sample within 0 to 50 °C.
