Shrinkage Limit Set

Shrinkage Limit Set

Product Code : EL-STLE-10384
Quick Answer: The Shrinkage Limit Set is a soil testing apparatus used to determine the shrinkage limit, shrinkage ratio, shrinkage index, and volumetric shrinkage of a soil mass. It includes a porcelain evaporating dish, shrinkage dish, glass cup, perspex plate with three metal prongs, flexible spatula, glass cylinder, and plastic wash bottle, and it is manufactured to IS 2720 (PART-VII), ASTM D 427, BS 1377, and AASHTO T 92 standards.

Shrinkage limit is the maximum water content at which a reduction in water content does not cause an appreciable reduction in volume of the soil mass. At the shrinkage limit, any further reduction in water allows air to enter into the voids of the soil, keeping the volume constant. The apparatus can also be used to calculate other shrinkage parameters, including the shrinkage ratio, shrinkage index, and volumetric shrinkage.

Set consists of one each:
Shrinkage limit set
Porcelain evaporating dish
Shrinkage dish
Glass cup
Perspex plate with three metal prongs
Flexible spatula 100mm
Glass cylinder 25ml x 1ml, supplied without mercury
Plastic wash bottle 500ml

Optional Accessories: Mercury supplied in bottle of 500 gms. at an extra cost.

Standards: IS 2720 (PART-VII) ASTM D 427, BS 1377, AASHTO T 92.
