What Is the Plate Load Bearing Test Apparatus Used For?
A plate load test applies load in steps to a rigid steel plate resting on the soil or on a pavement layer and measures how far the plate settles under each step, giving a load-settlement curve from which bearing capacity is assessed. The hydraulic hand pump drives the piston assembly against a reaction load, the pressure transducer and digital readout show the applied load, and three digital dial gauges carried from the 2.4 m datum bar record the settlement of the plate. The 500 kN set comes with 600 mm and 760 mm plates, and the 200 kN set with 300 mm and 450 mm plates.
