Knife Mill Grindomix

Knife Mill Grindomix

Product Code : EL-ELI-11032

Knife Mill Grindomix (code EL-ELI-11032) is a laboratory knife mill for size reduction, homogenisation and mixing of foodstuffs and similar samples, including material with a high water, oil or fat content. Four sharp blades driven by a speed-controlled industrial motor take the feed to a final fineness below 300 µm, and the mill has autoclavable grinding tools, a digital display of grinding time and speed, interval operation and memory for 10 parameter combinations.

What Is the Knife Mill Grindomix Used For?

Food and feed analysis needs a test portion that represents the whole sample, so moist, fatty or fibrous material is first cut down and blended into an even mass before fat, moisture or residue tests. The operator loads the sample into the grinding chamber, sets the speed and grinding time on the digital display or recalls one of the 10 stored parameter combinations, and runs the four blades either continuously or in intervals. The optional gravity lid adjusts the chamber volume automatically, and the autoclavable tools can be sterilised between batches. The result is a homogeneous sample with a final fineness below 300 µm, ready to be weighed out for analysis.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of knife mills required.
  • Gravity lid — whether the optional gravity lid for automatic adjustment of the grinding chamber volume is wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which kinds of sample can the knife mill process?
It takes soft, medium-hard, elastic, dry and fibrous feed material, as well as material containing water, fat or oil. Examples given are oil seeds, plant and pharmaceutical materials, sausages, soap, spices and vegetables.

How fine is the ground product?
For foodstuffs the mill grinds and homogenises to a final fineness below 300 µm, and the grinding can be reproduced between runs.

Can grinding settings be saved and repeated?
Grinding time and speed are shown on a digital display, and 10 parameter combinations can be stored for later use. Interval operation is also possible for samples that need it.

Can the grinding tools be sterilised?
The grinding tools are autoclavable, so they can be sterilised in an autoclave between batches, which suits microbiological and pharmaceutical sample preparation.

What does the optional gravity lid do?
The gravity lid is offered as an option. It sets the grinding chamber volume automatically, so the chamber adapts to the amount of sample being ground.

What electrical supply does the mill need?
The electrical supply data given for the mill are 220–240 V at 50–60 Hz, and the blades are driven by a speed-controlled industrial motor.
