What Is the Core Cutting/Core Drilling Machine (Motorized) Used For?

Core drilling cuts a cylindrical sample out of hardened concrete, asphalt or masonry so that it can be examined or tested in the laboratory. On site, the drill is set up on its base and column, the bit is lowered to the surface by the carriage and rack, and water fed through the water swivel cools the bit while the motor turns it at a no-load speed of 840 rpm. The friction clutch slips if the bit jams, and the overload protection guards the motor. The optional rod for a ceiling jack braces the column, while the water pump and water container supply water where there is no tap.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of core drills required.
  • Bit sizes — the core bit diameters needed, within the 25 mm to 150 mm capacity.
  • Optional parts — whether the water pump, rod for ceiling jack, water container or adapters are wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can this core drill cut?
It is intended for drilling cores in concrete, reinforced concrete, asphalt and brick on construction work.

What bit sizes does the machine take?
Its bit capacity is 25 mm to 150 mm diameter, with maximum bit diameter figures of 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm in the specification.

What are the electrical ratings?
The drill is rated at ~220 V / 50 Hz, with a power input of 2800 W and a no-load speed of 840 rpm.

How is the motor protected?
A friction clutch and overload current protection are fitted to protect the motor, for example if the bit binds in the material while drilling.

What parts make up the complete drill?
The set includes the drill motor, base, column, carriage, control panel, friction clutch, motor mount plate, rack, gear-box, water swivel seal and hydraulic system; a water pump, ceiling jack rod, water container and adapters are optional.
