Vee Bee Consistometer
Product Code : EL-CTLE-10294
Vee Bee Consistometer (code EL-CTLE-10294) is an instrument for measuring the workability and consistency of fresh concrete, giving the result in Vee Bee degrees, the seconds of vibration needed for the concrete to flow out and touch the entire face of an acrylic disc. It is built on a 380 mm × 260 mm vibrating table resting on elastic supports about 305 mm above the floor, with a swivel arm and funnel, slump cone, graduated rod, tamping rod and sheet metal container.

What Is the Vee Bee Consistometer Used For?
The Vee Bee test suits stiff mixes that the slump test cannot separate well, because it measures how long vibration takes to remould them. The container is fixed to the vibrating table and a slump test is first made inside it with the cone and tamping rod, the slump being read on the graduated rod. The swivel arm then brings the acrylic disc down onto the concrete, the table is switched on and the time is taken until the whole underside of the disc is in contact with concrete; that time in seconds is the Vee Bee value. Higher values mean a stiffer, less workable mix. The standards listed are IS 1199 and BS EN 12350.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Vee Bee degree?
It is the time in seconds of vibration at which the fresh concrete flows out far enough to come into contact with the entire face of the acrylic disc.
How big is the vibrating table of the consistometer?
The table measures 380 mm long by 260 mm wide and rests on elastic supports standing about 305 mm clear of the floor, with a Start/Stop switch, cord and plug.
Can the slump also be measured with the Vee Bee set?
Yes. A slump cone open at both ends and a graduated rod are supplied, and the scale on the rod gives the slump directly in millimetres.
What else is supplied with the instrument?
The set includes a swivel arm with funnel, a 600 mm tamping rod of 16 mm diameter with both ends rounded, and a sheet metal container with lifting handles that fixes to the table.
Can the swivel arm be removed from the table?
The guide swivel arm telescopes into a holder fixed to the base, and it can be detached from the vibrating table when it is not needed.
Which standards are listed for the Vee Bee test?
The standards listed are IS 1199 and BS EN 12350 for the Vee Bee consistometer test on fresh concrete.
