Vibration Compaction Hammer
Product Code : EL-STLE-10413
Vibration Compaction Hammer (code EL-STLE-10413) is a power tool used in the soil laboratory to compact soil and similar materials by vibration. It runs at constant speed with variable speed control, has an aluminium housing and a soft grip, shock-absorbing handle, and its variable lock mechanism sets the tool at a 12-step angle, while a single-step holder allows tools to be changed.

What Is the Vibration Compaction Hammer Used For?
Vibrating hammer compaction is a laboratory method for finding the relation between moisture content and dry density of granular soils, which compact more readily under vibration than under a falling rammer. In the test the material is placed in layers in a compaction mould and each layer is vibrated by the hammer, held down on a tamping foot, after which the mould is weighed and the density worked out. The variable speed control, the 12-step angle lock and the single-step holder let the tool be set up and changed between jobs. The standards listed for it are BS 1377:4, BS 1924:2 and EN 13286-4.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Vibration Compaction Hammer used for?
It compacts soil and similar materials by vibration in the laboratory, so that the density reached at a given moisture content can be measured for granular soils.
Can the hammer speed be adjusted?
Yes. The hammer works at a constant speed and also has variable speed control, so the operator can either hold one speed or vary it.
How is the tool angle set?
A variable lock mechanism allows the tool to be adjusted and locked in position at a 12-step angle setting before work starts.
How are tools changed on the hammer?
Tools are fitted in a single-step holder, so one tool can be taken out and another put in with a single action.
What are the housing and handle like?
The housing is made of aluminium, and the handle has a soft grip and is shock-absorbing, which reduces the vibration passed to the operator's hand.
Which standards are listed for the hammer?
The standards listed for the hammer are BS 1377:4, BS 1924:2 and EN 13286-4, all used in soil laboratory compaction work.
