What Is the Automatic Soil Compactor Used For?
Laboratory compaction tests find the maximum dry density of a soil and the moisture content at which it is reached, and these values become the targets for compacting fill and road layers on site; compacted specimens are also prepared for CBR testing. With the mould on the rotating table, the operator sets the rammer for the test, the lighter 2.5 kg rammer with the 300 mm drop for standard compaction or the 4.5 kg rammer with the 450 mm drop for modified compaction, enters the blows per layer and presses start. The machine spreads the blows over the layer while turning the mould, and stops at the preset count before the next layer is added.
