It consists of a replaceable grinding path fitting onto a disc rotating on its vertical axis, enclosed by a circular tray, with a bracket holding the specimen. At the end of 100 revolutions of the disc, the second parallel side of the tile is subjected to wear for an equal number of revolutions of the disc, and the wear of the tile is measured using a thickness gauge. The loading is applied by a counter balanced lever, and a funnel is provided to facilitate charging the grinding path with abrasive powder. It is supplied complete with an automatic pre-set revolution counter and one 7.5kg weight, but without abrasive powder and thickness gauge, and is suitable for operation on 230 Volts, Single phase, AC supply.
