Flexure Testing Machine Hand Operated

Flexure Testing Machine Hand Operated

Product Code : EL-CTLE-10927

Flexure Testing Machine Hand Operated (code EL-CTLE-10927) is a hand-worked machine for finding the flexural strength of concrete beams, applying load from the top through a piston. It tests beams of 100 × 100 × 500 mm and 150 × 150 × 700 mm, with a spacer for changing between them, and has a light weight frame, a self-aligning roller assembly, a hydraulic jack with retraction spring and a calibrated gauge reading 0–100 kN × 0.5 kN.

What Is the Flexure Testing Machine Hand Operated Used For?

Concrete for pavements and slabs is often specified by its flexural strength, or modulus of rupture, which is found by loading a plain beam on supports until it cracks and breaks. The operator sets the beam on the self-aligning roller assembly, uses the spacer to suit the beam size, and pumps the hydraulic jack so that the piston on top bears on the beam and the load rises steadily. The gauge, reading to 0.5 kN or 50 kgf, gives the failure load, from which the flexural strength is calculated using the span and beam dimensions. The standards listed are IS 516, BS 1881 and ASTM C 78.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of flexure machines required.
  • Beam size — whether 100 × 100 × 500 mm beams, 150 × 150 × 700 mm beams or both are to be tested.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which beam sizes can be tested?
The machine tests concrete beams of 100 × 100 × 500 mm and 150 × 150 × 700 mm, and a spacer is provided for changing between beam sizes.

What is the range of the load gauge?
The calibrated gauge reads 0 to 100 kN in 0.5 kN divisions, equal to 0 to 10,000 kgf in 50 kgf divisions.

How is the load applied?
Load is applied from the top of the machine through a piston fitted on top, worked by a hydraulic jack that has a retraction spring to return it.

What supports the beam?
The beam rests on a self-aligning roller assembly mounted in the light weight frame, which lets the supports seat evenly on the beam.

Which standards are listed?
The standards listed for the hand operated flexure machine are IS 516, BS 1881 and ASTM C 78.
