What Is the Accelerated Polishing Machine Used For?
Aggregate in a road surface is gradually polished by tyres, and a stone that polishes quickly gives a slippery road, so surfacing aggregates are tested for their resistance to polishing. Specimens made from the aggregate in the moulds are fixed round the road wheel, the loaded tyre is lowered onto them, and the wheel is run at the set speed for the time entered on the preset timer while water from the high level tank and abrasive are fed onto the running surface. Spent abrasive and water drain into the tray. The polished specimens are then tested for friction, from which the polished stone value is obtained.
