Bernoulli Theorem Demonstration Module

Bernoulli Theorem Demonstration Module

Product Code : EL-FMLE-10649

Bernoulli Theorem Demonstration Module (code EL-FMLE-10649) is a bench-top module, used on a Hydraulics Bench, to demonstrate and verify Bernoulli's theorem along a transparent Venturi-shaped conduit. Static pressure taps along the truncated-cone section feed an eight-tube manometer board reading 0 to 300 mm of water, a Pitot probe traverses the conduit for the total head, and removable ends let the section run convergent or divergent. The upstream diameter of the throat is 25 mm, with narrowing angles of 21° downstream and 10° upstream.

What Is the Bernoulli Theorem Demonstration Module Used For?

Bernoulli's theorem states that, along a streamline in steady flow, the sum of pressure head, velocity head and elevation stays constant, so static pressure falls where the flow speeds up through a narrowing. With the module levelled on the bench top and coupled to the supply, students set a flow with the outlet control valve, read the static head at each tapping on the manometer board and move the Pitot probe to read the total head at the same sections. Collecting the outlet flow in the volumetric tank gives the flow rate, and the run is repeated with the conduit reversed to compare convergent and divergent flow.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of modules required.
  • Water supply — whether the module will run from a Hydraulics Bench or a Basic Hydraulic Feed System.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the module demonstrate?
It demonstrates and verifies Bernoulli's theorem by showing how static pressure changes along a transparent, truncated-cone Venturi conduit, and how convergent and divergent flow differ from each other.

How are static and total head measured?
Static pressure taps along the conduit are read together on an eight-tube manometer board with a 0 to 300 mm water range, while a Pitot tube probe moved along the conduit gives the total head at each section.

Can the flow direction through the Venturi be reversed?
Yes. The conduit ends are removable, so the section can be fitted in convergent or divergent form with respect to the stream when the two cases are to be compared.

How is it connected to the water supply?
It stands on the Hydraulics Bench top on adjustable levelling legs, and its inlet pipe ends in a female coupling that connects straight to the bench supply. A Basic Hydraulic Feed System can be used instead.

What sets the flow rate during a test?
A control valve at the end of the module sets the flow rate and the pressure in the conduit, and a flexible hose carries the outlet flow to the volumetric measuring tank.

What are the Venturi dimensions?
The upstream diameter of the throat is 25 mm, and the section narrows at 21° on the downstream side and 10° on the upstream side. It is machined from clear acrylic.
